This Privacy Policy describes how the Wend app (“the App”) published by AppUp Labs (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handles your information. We built the App with a privacy-first posture: there are no accounts, your gameplay lives on your device, we don’t sell anything to advertisers, and we don’t profile you across the internet. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous usage analytics (Section 1.2) and crash reports (Section 1.3), neither of which is tied to your name, email, or contacts.

By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you don’t agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 On-Device Gameplay Data

You play the App without signing in, and there is no account to create. The core gameplay never asks for personal identifiers. The App creates the following data on your device only:

• Gameplay state: the puzzle you’re currently playing and your progress through it — the letter grid, the words you’ve found so far, your timer, and any hints you’ve used — so the board stays consistent when you return to it after closing the App.
• Level and daily progress: for each level and each daily puzzle you’ve completed, we keep your result, including your best completion time, the words you found, and hints used. (Your best time is stored locally to track your own progress.)
• Streak and rewards: your current and longest streak, total days played, milestones reached, and badges or trophies you’ve unlocked. This powers your streak flame, calendar, and reward screens without us needing to phone home.
• Preferences: every toggle you change in Settings (sound, haptics, daily reminders, Colour Assist, Theme Hint, Word Hint, and any other settings the App offers).
• Your local timezone: read from the operating system and used so daily reminders fire at the right local hour.
• App version: the build that wrote your progress, for future bug triage if you ever contact support.

All of this lives in local storage on your phone (Apple’s sandboxed app storage on iOS, app-private storage on Android). Uninstalling the App removes everything.

1.2 Usage Analytics

We collect aggregated, anonymized usage analytics to understand how the App is used and to guide product improvements. We use Mixpanel as our analytics provider, which processes this data on our behalf under contractual safeguards. Typical events include which levels and daily puzzles you start and complete, completion time, words found, hints used, streak and milestone progress, which screens you visit, and which features you interact with (for example, opening Settings or changing a toggle), along with high-level performance metrics like load times and errors.

Analytics events are not linked to your name, email, or contacts, because the App never collects those. Mixpanel does infer your approximate location (your city or region) from your device’s IP address. This is coarse, not GPS or street-level, and we use it only to understand, in aggregate, where the App is used. Because there is no account, events are tied only to a per-install, randomly generated identifier that is created the first time you open the App and resets if you uninstall and reinstall. We use analytics data to improve existing features, fix bugs, tune difficulty, and prioritize what to build next.

Gameplay itself works fully offline — puzzles are generated on your device. Analytics events are queued on your device and sent when a network connection is available.

1.3 Crash and Performance Reporting

To keep the App stable, we use Sentry to collect automatic crash and error reports, along with a small sample of performance data (such as startup time and slow frames). We use Sentry as our crash-reporting provider, which processes this data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.

A crash report includes technical diagnostics: the error and stack trace, the App version, your device model and operating-system version, and the build environment. It does not include your name, email, contacts, location, or the letters or words in your puzzles, and we do not enable Sentry’s optional personal-data features. Because there is no account, reports are not linked to your identity. Crash reporting runs only in released builds, not in development builds.

1.4 Diagnostic Data

If you contact us by email, the contents of your message, including any details you choose to share about your device or the issue, are visible to us at team@appuplabs.com. We use this information only to respond to your message and to triage the App.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

To be specific about what we don’t do:

• We don’t have accounts. There is no sign-in, no password, and no profile to create.
• We don’t receive your password, payment information, contacts list, or social graph from anyone.
• No advertising SDK is integrated. No ads, no ad identifiers, no tracking pixels, and no cross-app tracking.
• No precise or GPS location, no contacts, no microphone, no camera, and no photo-library access is requested. (Mixpanel infers only coarse, city-level location from your device’s IP address, as described in Section 1.2.)
• We don’t use crash reports to identify you. Crash and error reports (Section 1.3) contain technical diagnostics only, never your name, email, location, or puzzle content.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the data described in Section 1 to:

• Render the current puzzle and your progress in it.
• Show your streak, calendar, milestones, badges, and trophies.
• Schedule local notifications you’ve opted in to.
• Apply the preferences you’ve configured (sound, haptics, reminders, and the in-game hint and Colour Assist options).
• Respond to feedback you send us.
• Improve the App: understand which features get used, fix bugs, tune difficulty, and prioritize new features from the aggregated analytics described in Section 1.2.

We do not use your data to advertise to you, to build a profile of you, or to share with third parties for their own purposes.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the limited circumstances below:

• Analytics provider. Anonymous usage analytics (Section 1.2) are processed by Mixpanel on our behalf, under contractual safeguards, solely so we can understand product usage in aggregate.
• Crash-reporting provider. Crash, error, and performance reports (Section 1.3) are processed by Sentry on our behalf, under contractual safeguards, solely so we can keep the App stable.
• User-initiated sharing. When you tap “Share Wend” in Settings, your device’s share sheet opens so you can send a link to the App’s store listing to someone you choose. The destination (Messages, email, a social app, etc.) is entirely your choice and falls outside our control. No personal data is attached to what you share.
• You email us. When you email team@appuplabs.com, nothing is sent until you tap Send in your mail app. We use any feedback you send only to respond and won’t add you to any marketing list.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
• Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer that materially changes how your information is handled.

5. Data Storage and Security

Gameplay and preference data created during normal play is stored locally on your device, inside the App’s private sandbox. Other apps on your phone can’t read it, and it does not leave your device.

The only data transmitted off your device is the anonymous usage analytics described in Section 1.2 (sent to Mixpanel) and the crash, error, and performance reports described in Section 1.3 (sent to Sentry), both over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Because there is no account, we hold no name, email, or password for you on any server.

While we apply standard safeguards, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Notifications

If you opt in, the App schedules local notifications for daily reminders and streak nudges. These are scheduled by the operating system on your device, not push notifications routed through a server. We don’t see whether they fired, whether you opened them, or what time you played afterward.

You can revoke notification permission at any time from your device’s Settings, or turn reminders off in the App’s Settings.

7. Your Controls

You control your data directly through the App and your device:

• Change sound, haptics, reminders, and the in-game hint and Colour Assist options: the Settings sheet in the App.
• Disable notifications: the App’s Settings, or your device’s OS-level Settings.
• Analytics: the App does not currently offer an in-app analytics opt-out. Analytics are anonymous and tied only to a per-install random identifier; uninstalling the App stops further analytics from that device and discards the identifier.
• Request deletion of collected data: email team@appuplabs.com and we will delete the analytics and crash data associated with your install. Uninstalling the App stops any further collection and discards the on-device identifier.
• Erase on-device data: uninstall the App. This removes all gameplay, progress, and preferences.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App contains no objectionable content, no chat, no user-generated content, and no advertising. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. If you are a parent or guardian and have any concerns, please email team@appuplabs.com.

9. Third-Party Links

The App may link to this Privacy Policy and to the Terms of Use, which are hosted on our website. When you tap such a link, you leave the App and enter a separate website governed by that site’s own privacy practices.

10. International Users

The App is available globally. Gameplay data stored on your device stays in your jurisdiction. The anonymous analytics described in Section 1.2 and the crash reports described in Section 1.3 may be stored or processed by our analytics and crash-reporting providers in countries other than the one you live in (including the United States), under contractual safeguards. By using the App, you consent to that processing.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves, for instance if a future version adds new features or integrations with new third-party services. When we make a change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document, and for material changes we’ll post a notice in the App. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
